Incidence and identification of mesophilic Aeromonas spp. from retail foods.
Sixty-eight food samples were examined for the presence of mesophilic Aeromonas species both qualitatively and quantitatively. Aeromonads were isolated from 26% of the vegetable samples, 70% of the meat and poultry samples and 72% of the fish and shrimps. Numbers of motile aeromonads present in the food samples varied from <10(2) cfu g(-1) to >10(5) cfu g(-1). GLC analysis of FAMEs was used to ...
متن کاملCharacterization of the Aeromonas hydrophila group isolated from retail foods of animal origin.
During a recent survey of retail fresh foods of animal origin (fish and seafood, raw milk, poultry, and red meats) for organisms of the Aeromonas hydrophila group, we isolated representative strains from the various foods. In this study, we sought to characterize these isolates for biochemical properties and virulence-associated factors and to compare the food isolates with clinical isolates. W...
متن کاملIncidence and virulence characteristics of Aeromonas spp. in fish
AIM This study was conducted to evaluate the presence of Aeromonas spp. in raw and ready-to-eat (RTE) fish commonly consumed in Assiut city, Egypt, and to determine virulence factors due to they play a key role in their pathogenicity. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 125 samples of raw and RTE fish samples were taken from different fish markets and fish restaurants in Assiut Governorate and s...
متن کاملA colonization factor (production of lateral flagella) of mesophilic Aeromonas spp. is inactive in Aeromonas salmonicida strains.
The nine laf (lateral flagellum) genes of mesophilic aeromonads are in the Aeromonas salmonicida genome. The laf genes are functional, except for lafA (flagellin gene), which was inactivated by transposase 8 (IS3 family). A pathogenic characteristic of mesophilic aeromonads (lateral flagella) is abolished in this specialized pathogen with a narrow host range.
متن کاملOccurrence of Vibrio spp., Aeromonas hydrophila, Escherichia coli and Campylobacter spp. in crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) from Iran
The aim of this research was to study the occurrence of Vibrio spp., Aeromonas hydrophila, Escherichia coli and Campylobacter spp. in crayfish from Azerbaijan Province using culture method and PCR assay. A total of 55 isolates were collected from 97 studied samples. Vibrio spp., A. hydrophila, E. coli and Campylobacter spp. were detected in 26 samples (26.8%), 12 samples (12.3%), 15 samples (15...
